Ministry to Adults Imprisoned in County Institutions

In general, county institutions do not have chaplains.  Instead, services are provided through the institutional programs deputy by volunteers.

Volunteers from Catholic Restorative Justice presently minister to those men and women confined at county adult facilities in Humboldt, Napa, and Sonoma Counties.  Available services vary by location and depend upon the availability of volunteers and institutional requirements.

In Humboldt and Napa Counties, available services include one-on-one friendly visitation, pastoral visitation, limited Catechetical instruction, limited scripture study and limited liturgical support.  The Sacrament of Reconciliation is available upon inmate request and is dependent upon the availability and jail clearance of local clergy.   Holy Eucharist is also available upon request.

In Sonoma County, a wide range of services are available to men and women at the Main Adult Detention Facility  (MADF) and friendly and pastoral visitation are available at the North County Detention Facility (NCDF).
